It was an interesting episode that had a whole lot of story to tell and in a very hilarious way. Which plays right into what happens next week. Nope, that was Jade, who basically swindled Kelsey into giving her an advance on her book, which it turns out, doesn’t exist. Then again Jersey having so many stars (Granted I can’t recall ever being in Jersey in the dark outside of a car that was heading back to NY but I don’t think there are that many stars there, maybe it was an effect from being high?) wasn’t the most egregious thing to happen this episode. Josh is a very in the moment kind of guy and that’s definitely something to be respected but he doesn’t know what he’ll want and one or both of them is going to end up heartbroken. Granted, it’s not that there wasn’t a point to be made her. That he’s not necessarily interested in what people expect of him. Actually, Josh tells Liza straight out that he wants to stay. And for once, in a long time, nobody leaves. Though the conversation does occur after Liza eats an entire weed-infused lollipop but Josh takes care of her and they have an actual conversation. People blame the inability for the relationship to have a future on him and what he’ll want in the future, even Liza.Īnd while I appreciate the fact that we focus on what Liza needs and how much happier she is out of Jersey and married to her awful-sounding husband and oblivious to the fact that truffle butter is not in fact something someone in their 40’s should be displaying on a shirt or bragging about making the best of, finally Liza is open with Josh. Which was why it’s kind of sad that everyone underestimates it. He just needed time to adjust and a good talking to from Maggie. We wanted Josh to pull through and be the guy who doesn’t mind stuff that’s outside the norm. Of late, the whole essence and difficulties Josh and Liza have been facing together haven’t been unwarranted but it has been exhausting. It wouldn’t even be a thing if Liza wasn’t pretending to be in her 20’s. Let’s be honest, we were all probably thinking of Charles, but we’re not going to talk about that because it’s not really a thing.
Even if the right guy that was mentioned is probably Charles.
In this case she does stand up for the fact that he isn’t just a boy toy, but that only makes it worse when she ends up pitied for the lack of longevity in a relationship like this.įrankly, it’s really no one’s business. Also, Liza has a terrible tendency to take in everything everyone says about her relating to Josh, and then pushing it outward. Of course, when it actually comes down to it, everyone has an opinion of the Josh/Liza relationship thing, and the stigma about an older woman dating a younger man for fun lends an interesting spin to the episode. However, most of those reasons are unfounded, and things turn out not all as she expected. This is a part of her life he hasn’t really been privy to yet, and he’s excited about it. Josh is totally game for dinner with Liza’s Jersey friends. It’s funny that Liza’s life is described as a web, when it’s the internet that causes the big dilemma that kicks off the episode. Caitlin makes a brief appearance, but it’s a step in the right direction. But Josh handles dinner with Liza’s friends better than expected. Ultimately Liza’s greatest fear is that her work life will intersect with her real age life, and then everything will be ruined. In the beginning of the episode Liza tells Maggie that she’s not on her twisty chart, turned spiderweb, because she’s home and she’s safe. Except for the talking to Liza gets from her friend. All that being said, dinner goes better than expected.
